from a house in Khudukhali village under Chanua union of Banshkhali upazila around 8pm on Monday.

Assistant Superintendent of Police AKM Emran Bhuiyan of Satkania circle of Chittagong said they nabbed the notorious sea robber acting on a tip-off.

Local fishermen from Banshkhali upazila said Baishya Dakat was influential both in the coastal areas of the Bay of Bengal and in the deep sea and used to rob fishing boats. After robbing each boat, he used to kill the fishermen on board and dump their bodies in the sea to destroy the evidence and eliminate witnesses to his crimes. The fishermen also think that no one can accurately number the murders committed by the Baishya Bahini.

According to police sources, on April 2, 2013, Baishya Dakat and his gang killed 31 fishermen at the sea near Jahajkhali area of Kutubdia Island in Cox's Bazar after robbing their boats. His gang had also killed 11 other fishermen in the Bay near Shekherkhil area of Banshkhali upazila in Chittagong a few days earlier.

Baishya was accused in 16 cases lodged with cop shoppes.
