[DAWN] KARACHI: An assistant sub-inspector was rubbed out while three coppers were maimed in an attack on a police van in Korangi on Tuesday night, the Awami Colony police said.They added that the police mobile as per its routine was standing at Korangi-5 when armed motorcyclists attacked it and escaped, leaving four coppers maimed.
The maimed coppers were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammed Ibrahim was pronounced dead on arrival.
Head Constable Idrees, Constables Akbar and Imran Ali were admitted for treatment.
The assassinations of coppers have increased in East Zone following killings of suspected snuffies in 'encounters' and arrest of suspected hit men, the officials added.
