2014-07-18 |
Intense clashes erupted early this morning in Abdalla-Biroole, a town 45km south of Kismayo the provincial capital city of Lower Jubba region. The clashes broke out between an armed militia and Al-Shabaab terrorist group, after the militia fighters seized the town which was then recaptured by the insurgents after the battle. The clan assailants and other rogue forces from Kismayo engaged in a lengthy confrontation with Al-Shabaab in Abdalla-Biroole. Residents in the town claim they have heard sounds of heavy shelling. The extent of the casualties and losses are still unknown, although local residents in Abdalla-Biroole say they have sighted dead bodies of Interim Jubba Administration forces and Al-Shabaab insurgents. |
