| As Iraq slips into war, Obama say sending 300 military advisors |

[Iraq Sun] As Islamist hard boyz continued the lightning advance in northern Iraq, overrunning large swathes of area, US President Barack ObamaReady to Rule from Day One... announced Thursday that he is sending 300 military advisors to Iraq but would not send combat troops back to that country again. In a statement from the White House Briefing Room, Obama said: "American forces will not be returning to combat in Iraq, but we will help Iraqis as they take the fight to gunnies who threaten the Iraqi people, the region and American interests as well." He said the contingent he is sending would operate as "advisers." "We do not have the ability to simply solve this problem by sending in tens of thousands of troops and committing the kinds of blood and treasure that has already been expended in Iraq," he said. "Ultimately, this is something that is going to have to be solved by the Iraqis." |
