Two Men Use Girl As Human Shield -- Until Her Father Guns Them Down
2014-06-14
[DAILYCALLER] A St. Louis couple is likely thankful to have guns in their home after they were forced to use them to defend their daughter against two men Monday night.

The men, one of whom had an extensive rap sheet, confronted the couples' 17-year-old daughter after she stepped outside of the house to go to her car, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Cortez McClinton, 33, and Terrell Johnson, 31, held a gun to the girl's head and used her as a shield as they entered the family home, where a five-year old child was also present.

The girl's father and mother witnessed the abduction, and both retrieved their guns. When McClinton and Johnson entered, the father fired several shots, hitting both men. The girl's mother fired one shot but missed.

Johnson died at the scene. McClinton was wounded but was able to scramble off. He had his brother take him to the hospital.

In 2010, McClinton was charged with shooting another man. Charges were eventually dropped due to lack of witness participation. He also had drug possession and distribution charges against him.

McClinton is charged with second-degree murder, kidnapping, burglary and criminal armed action and is being held on $1 million bond.

#6  I took it as being helpful, g(r)omgoru. Seriously, thank you for being part of making Rantburg what it is. I find myself quoting "an Israeli physicist I know" as well as the rest of you an awful lot these days. The internet is a wonderful thing -- I've come to know such interesting people here, and eagerly absorb, to the extent I'm capable, the knowledge y'all so generously share. I quite startle my analog friends, on occasion, with the things I know, thanks to you all. Though formerly part time daughter last night still smiled at something I said, as showing an incorrigible innocence of human nature.

#5  I didn't mean it as a criticism, TW. It's a lovely story---that's why I remembered it.

#4  Very good eye, g(r)omgoru. I did a quick google of the title with Rantburg and the year, and this popped up from the 11th. Enjoy reminiscing! :-)

#3  We may have done, g(r)omgoru. Though if a story is from a different site, it doesn't register as a duplicate to trigger deletion before publishing, requiring the sharp eyes and copious memory of a dedicated reader (thanks for being that one for us again today!!) And Fred doesn't nave time to consult the archives in the middle of maintaining the site for us, but posts 'em as he finds 'em.

#1  This has absolutely got to stop. The inability for the girls mother to hit the target clearly indicates she is not spending enough time at the range.
