Russia accuses Ukraine of using banned weapons
2014-06-13 | |
[Iran Press TV] Russia has accused Ukraine of using prohibited weapons during military operations to regain the pro-Russian militias' stronghold of Slavyansk. The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that Ukrainian forces have been using the prohibited arms against civilians in Slavyansk. The ministry added that refugees and children are also targeted in the operations.
"Kiev's humanitarian crimes against (Ukraine's) southeastern residents are multiplying. They must be investigated and the guilty punished," Dolgov added. Senior officials in Kiev have categorically denied the allegations. No, no! Certainly not! Slavyansk has been the epicenter of Ukraine's two-month offensive against pro-Russia protesters. Ukraine's Health Ministry says the battles have claimed the lives of 270 pro-Russia gunnies, federal soldiers and civilians. Ukraine's mainly Russian-speaking parts in the east have been the scene of deadly festivities between pro-Russia protesters and the Ukrainian army since Kiev launched military operations in the southeastern regions in mid-April in a bid to root out the demonstrations there. Kiev says it is targeting armed pro-Russia protesters, but many civilians have been caught in the shelling that has been going on for days. Schools, houses, institutions and even an orphanage have been targeted by Kiev's military in the city of Slavyansk in recent weeks.
