The Russian Foreign Ministry said Moscow was demanding an official explanation about comments attributed to Prince Charles.
"If these words were really said, then undoubtedly they are not worthy of a future British monarch," Russian Foreign Ministry front man, Alexander Lukashevich, said in Moscow on Thursday.
British media reports say Charles likened the Russian president to the Nazi leader during his royal tour of Canada.
Charles, who is visiting Canada, made the comment during a meeting with World War Two veterans and their families at an immigration museum in Nova Scotia.
