[ArtOfManliness] Deputy U.S. Marshal Bass Reeves was arguably the greatest lawman and gunfighter of the West, a man who served as a marshal for 32 years in the most dangerous district in the country, captured 3,000 felons, (once bringing in 17 men at one time), and shot 14 men in the line of duty, all without ever being shot himself.

| #6 So "Blazing Saddles" was, in part, a documentary? /sarc Seriously, Marshal Reeves has those "don't screw with me" eyes and a record that most lawmen (as contrasted with what we have seen of late) should envy and emulate. |

| #4 It's a crying shame that the only movie that seems to have been made about Bass Reeves was a low-budget and barely visible indy production that seems to have vanished from everything but IMDB ... while c**p fantasies like Django Unchained get the big-budget treatment from a hack like Tarantino. | #3 Yes, it is indeed a fascinating story. It's a shame the 'bad apples' get so much press and media coverage. American heroes like U.S. Marshall Bass Reeves deserve better. |
