| AMISOM troops ambushed during trek to Wahbo |

| In the middle of the night, the Ethiopian troops serving under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) were leaving Mahaas In their convoy en route to Wahbo when they were attacked by Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab Islamists. The battle went on for at least an hour in which several Al-Shabaab insurgents were killed in the intense clashes according to witnesses. Officials from the Somali Federal Government confirmed that the confrontations did indeed cause severe casualties and losses. After the clashes last night, the AMISOM forces allegedly have broadened themselves in the towns between Mahaas and Wahbo. |
