| Ghardaia clashes resume |

| [MAGHAREBIA] Some twenty people were injured and several cars were destroyed Tuesday (March 11th) when ethnic clashes resumed in Ghardaia, Tout sur l'Algérie reported. The tension subsided after the intervention of security services. One day earlier, Algerian police chief General Abdelghani Hamel announced he had sacked three policemen for using violence against rioters in January, AFP reported. The city of 90,000 inhabitants has been rocked by ethnic clashes between the Ibadite and Malikite communities. The fighting has left at least four people dead and hundreds injured since December. |
