Rasoul Talks Platform, National Unity
2014-02-15
[Tolo News] Addressing his supporters from Kunar and Nuristan provinces on Friday, Presidential candidate Zalmai Rasoul reviewed his platform and pledged to work on reform, longstanding peace, security and social justice.

In addition, First Deputy of Parliament Mirwais Yasini has endorsed Rasoul's candidacy for President.

Yasini, in attendance for Rasoul's rally, spoke about the legacy of the Afghan civil war.

"This ancient and holy city has lost 70,000 deaders, and it was completely destroyed following the withdraw of Soviet occupation forces, homes were ruined," Yasini said. "The wounds from those times are still fresh."

Speaking to his supporters, Rasoul promised to work on a number of important topics including equality and harmony between the country's various ethnic, linguistic and regional groups.

"Defending the motherland, people and the credibility of the system is our obligation," Rasoul said. "I will open the doors of peace and welcome those who endorse the constitution and achievements of the past thirteen years, but we will fight against those who kill people, kill children, teachers, religious scholars and security personnel - it is our responsibility to fight them with all our power."
