Sochi Olympics Kick Off with Grand Opening |

[An Nahar] Music, dance and plenty of Russian bravado unleashed the ultimate achievement of Vladimir Putin ...Second and fourth President of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. 's Russia on Thursday -- a Winter Olympics to showcase the best athletes on ice and snow that the world has to offer. The opening ceremony on the edge of the Black Sea and subsequent games are Russia's chance to tell its story of post-Soviet resurrection to the world, and dispel the anger, fear and suspicion that has marred the buildup to these most expensive Olympics ever. |

#4 Maybe it's just me, but since the end of the Cold War, I just don't have any interest in watching the olympics. It's just not as exciting or meaningful to me. Sad but true. |
