An assistant village leader was killed in a shooting outside his home in NarathiwatÂ’s Rangae district early Thursday morning. The shooting occurred just before 6 a.m. at Mayakoh SamaeÂ’s house in tambon Chalerm. Witnesses said that Mayakoh was working beside his house when two men showed up on a motorcycle. The men riding pillion got off, walked up to the victim, pulled out a pistol and fired a shot into his chest at close range. The assailants then fled. His relatives, alerted by the sound of the gunshot, ran out and found Mayakoh lying on the spot, suffering from a fatal wound. They took him to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. |
