Orangi Pilot Project director among eight killed in Karachi

[Dawn] Director of Orangi Pilot Project, Parveen Rehman and seven others were killed in different incidents of violence in Karachi on Wednesday, DawnNews reported.

Rehman was targeted when she was travelling in her car near Orangi Town's Peerabad neighbourhhod.

Initial reports suggest that unidentified gunmen opened fire by intercepting her car near Banaras flyover.

Police sources have confirmed identity of the deceased. Her body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Taking notice of the incident, Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has ordered to form a special team to probe the murder while Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has ordered a report from the IG Sindh Police and condemned the devastating incident.
