James Clapper removed al Qaeda from Rice's talking points |
2012-11-20 |
CBS News has learned that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) cut specific references to "al Qaeda" and "terrorism" from the unclassified talking points given to Ambassador Susan Rice on the Benghazi consulate attack - with the agreement of the CIA and FBI. The White House or State Department did not make those changes. |

#7 I don't see why Ogabe would invest the effort to continue covering up any questionable activities from his first term. He won the election. Hardly matters now. The Democratic-controlled Senate will never convict him if he's impeached. |

#6 I think the Obama admin will invoke exec priv to keep Clapper from testifying. Since they used exec priv in the Fast&Furious case and got away with it, this would be consistent. |

#5 "The intelligence community assessed from the very beginning that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack." DNI spokesman Shawn Turner tells CBS News. That information was shared at a classified level -- which Rice, as a member of President Obama's cabinet, would have been privy to. In other words: 1) When Rice appeared on those 5 news shows, she was knowingly spreading disinformation. 2) She is not out of the woods as there was no operational reason for this deception, only political. |

#4 Unless he was TOLD to remove it, and he testifies to the fact under oath, I don't believe it. |

#3 Clapper's power as DNI depends on the White House. |
