Republicans bracing for 'October surprise' as Gloria Allred 'prepares for Romney revelation'
2012-10-21
Republicans are bracing themselves for Gloria Allred to make a potentially damaging revelation about Willard Mitt Romney
...former governor of Massachussetts, currently the Publican nominee for president. He is the son of the former governor of Michigan, George Romney, who himself ran for president after saving American Motors from failure, though not permanently. Romney has a record as a successful businessman, heading Bain Capital, and he rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics from the midst of bribery and mismanagement scandals. More to the point, he isn't President B.O...
, just weeks before the election.

The pro-President B.O. lawyer is rumoured to be preparing for her so-called 'October surprise' in which she will strike the Republican presidential hopeful's chances by unearthing some sort of secret or scandal.

Ms Allred has refused to comment on the rumours, which first surfaced in a tweet by the Drudge Report's Matt Drudge on Thursday.

'Here she comes. Hearing Gloria Allred out there again, about to make a move. After all, it's her time of the campaign. Team O at the ready!!' Mr Drudge wrote on Twitter.

According to RadarOnline.com, Ms Allred launched a last minute strike on GOP Meg Whitman's campaign for governor of Caliphornia by representing a disgruntled former housekeeper.

In the pivotal moments of the campaign, the lawyer wheeled out Nicky Diaz who alleged that she was fired by the Whitman family because she was an undocumented Democrat.

Whitman went on to lose the election to Democrat Jerry Governor Moonbeam Brown
... those who ignore history are bound to repeat it ...

Ms Allred refused to confirm or deny the rumours regarding Governor Romney.

#28  The intent is to show him as uncaring, out of touch, a danger to women, a secret extremist.

that would describe our current POTUS, but I don't think he's interested in women IYKWIMAITYD

#27  lotp, yep. He was a lowest-level public representative of a religion that believed abortion was wrong, and advised a young pregnant woman to pursue other avenues, which she did, and in hindsight is glad she did. Not surprisingly, that seems to be the response of a great many women who follow that kind of advice. Or are subjected to it against their desires (eg. 'Roe.')

#26  A story has been circulating for some time about a woman who had a problematic pregnancy (and 4 living children). Romney was a young Mormon bishop who took a firm line against aborting.

The intent is to show him as uncaring, out of touch, a danger to women, a secret extremist.

#25  My guess is when he was in the hospital in France after his car accident ... he wasn't wearing Mormon sanction briefs.

#24  Didn't Gloria Allred find some woman who came out of obscurity to say she had an affair with Herman Cain. The woman faded like a cheap dress as soon as Herman was destroyed politically. This seems to be Allred's MO--hit man womym for the Donks. I have trouble imagining what scandal could be out there about straight-laced Mitt. The Chicago Boyz are at work again.

#20  When the NYT or the WaPo or Sandra Fluke would happily do the job?

Ummmmmmmmmm...maybe not.

Sandra Fluke, the woman at the center of a media firestorm earlier this year after Rush Limbaugh called her a “slut,” spoke Saturday in front of about 10 people at the Sak ‘N Save in north Reno.

The speech was part of a daylong effort by Democrats to get Northern Nevadans to the polls on the first day of early voting.

Wow. That is soooooooo sad. Welcome to Hard Trivia Question Answer Land, sweetie. Get me a beer while you're up...

#18  The pic of Brown brings back memories. When it first came out - Brown and Ronstadt had gone to Africa together. When the "propriety" of that trip was questioned, Brown said "nothing happened between us". A local SF columnist said - only with Jerry would that probably be true....

Or publish and release books on the mission the week before the election.

#14  If you're running Champ's campaign and you have some good dirt on Mitt, do you let Gloria Allred -- who would surely be in any discussion of "Who is the world's most despised woman?"-- dish it? When the NYT or the WaPo or Sandra Fluke would happily do the job?

I think the October surprise is more likely to consist of Champ, shortly before the foreign policy debate, bombing a tent full of hapless Libyan goat herders and announcing that he got the guys who killed Ambassador Stevens and the three other bumps in the road. (A SEAL raid would be much more dramatic, but it turns out that those guys have an inconvenient propensity to tell the truth.)

#12  Abortion. Things are so much better now that they are legal.
Posted by: Nimble Spemble   2012-10-21 11:39

#11  The smoke about abortions is that even in the very unlikely event if Roe was overturned, numerous states would simply step in and make it legal. Most of which will obviously be in the Blue color this election, though I suspect even there some return to things like parental consent with a judicial appeal option would be implemented.

#10  Gloria is currently working with Dan Rather to create the documentation.
Posted by: airandee   2012-10-21 11:13

#9  It will be about abortion, I suspect. And don't underestimate the potential impact with some moderate women who wouldn't have one themselves but who are uneasy at the thought that we could possibly go back to a time when contraception as well as abortion was illegal - as it was within living memory of some women voters.
