[Tolo News] Five coppers and 22 hard boyz were killed in a Taliban attack on a checkpoint in Afghanistan's southern Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... province early Sunday, an official said. Five other coppers were maimed in the battle. Several Taliban Death Eaters launched an attack at around 3:00AM in the Regi area of Mursa Qala district, provincial front man Daoud Ahamdi told TOLOnews Sunday. He said the clash went on for four hours, with several Death Eaters fleeing the area as more security forces arrived in the area. The Taliban announced in May it would increase its attacks on the Afghan and foreign forces as part of their "spring offensive" Al Farooq. The group's last major coordinated attack was on a civilian hotel restaurant on the outskirts of Kabul a fortnight ago. Seven Taliban men entered the place late Thursday night and killed up to 18 people, mostly civilians. |
