Raids leave two militant warlords dead in Dagestan |
2012-06-28 |
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee said law enforcement officers killed in separate raids the alleged leaders of two insurgent groups in Dagestan on Wednesday. Magomed “Al-Bara” Abdusalamov was gunned down near the village of Khuchni. Abdusalamov, the alleged leader of the so-called “Izberbash gang,” was transporting a powerful bomb made from a 100-liter barrel filled with explosives, which was defused by a bomb squad. Elsewhere in the republic, police gunned down Nazhmudin “Abu-Zeit” Nazhmudinov, the supposed head of the “Tsumada gang”. A policeman was killed and two others injured during that shootout, along with Nazhmudinov’s female supporter Zarema Ramadanova, who also shot at the officers. |
