| IDF soldier, terrorist killed in exchange of fire near Gaza | |

| An IDF soldier was shot dead early Friday morning in an exchange of fire with a Palestinian terrorist, who was also killed in the clash, near the Gaza border fence. IDF soldiers detected an armed Palestinian trying to infiltrate into Israel from Gaza. A force from the Golani Brigade was alerted to the scene of the infiltration. A gun fight ensued between the terrorist and the soldiers during which the soldier and terrorist were killed. The IDF said that by stopping the terrorist, the force had stopped an attack inside the Israeli Home Front. The incident came after two soldiers were wounded along the border with the Gaza Strip last week.
