| Australia's government believes a new video provides evidence an Australian man kidnapped in the Philippines is alive. Warren Rodwell was living with his Filipino wife on the island of Mindanao when Islamists kidnapped him at gunpoint in December. Philippine authorities have received a second video of Rodwell, confirming he was alive on March 26, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). A spokesman said, "The video provides proof-of-life as at 26 March. This is welcome, given our ongoing concerns about Mr Rodwell's welfare." A video obtained by the media in January showed Rodwell pleading for his life. He looked haggard and distressed. |
