Children's Found (UNICEF) is to launch a measles vaccination program in Yemen, after an outbreak of the disease in the Middle East country has killed over 170 children and left more than 4,000 infected since mid-2011, a UN front man told news hounds here Friday.
"The near breakdown of Yemen's health services during the political crisis, and severe malnutrition amongst children under the age of five were the leading factors behind this outbreak," del Buey said. The vaccination campaign, which will be launched on Saturday, is aimed to reach over 8 million children under the age of five.
