Foot-and-mouth disease spreads in Egypt
2012-03-17
Cattle disease was one of the ten plagues, back when it was the Egyptian Pharaoh tormenting the Hebrews.

The government should have been down to about a month or so of cash reserves to buy food for their people... Now 2,000 cattle are dead, 24,500 more livestock are known infected in the past two weeks, and cattle markets have been shut across the country. I'm sure the Israelis didn't do it...

Given the sensitivity of Arabs, I would say that they are boils incarnated as people...

#7  The question is how much this will be blamed on the Coptics, at least in my view. Blame-game will happen and we all know who will suffer.

#6  Once the evil colonialist, uilander farmers were removed, Rinderpest was easily defeated in Zimbabwe. Of course a nice Beef Wellington can no longer be had, but eating grasses is much healthier.

#5  With the breakdown of its medical system, Egypt will soon become a swamp of infectious diseases. It will have to get extremely bad, though, before the WTO intervenes, asking countries to kick down some money.

It will be interesting to see the order in which the diseases come, and how it will affect the 10% of their population with hepatitis.

#1  ...accused the government of incompetence, and have thrown dead cows in front of the governors' offices during protests.
I can't help but think that's an effective protest move. We do it here but call it barbecue.
