| Saleh inner circle losing hope; Yemen VP putting them on a Leash |

| [Yemen Post] The inner circle of President-for-Life Saleh ... exemplifying the Arab's propensity to combine brutality with incompetence... are finally starting to realize that their time in rule is coming to an end. Hundreds of mostly corrupt officials loyal to Saleh attempted to build bridges with VP Abdul Rabu Hadi over the last month in an effort to stay alive in the Yemeni political arena. Hadi was aware that Saleh was hoping to rule the country from a distance by ensuring that his aides surround Hadi and the decisions he makes. When Hadi stood firm, the crisis resulted in a major friction within the ruling General People Congress party with bigwigs rejecting to accept Hadi as their next ruler. Senior ruling party officials have went as far as threatening Hadi and calling him a traitor. Saleh was reported to have had harsh discussions with Hadi two weeks ago, after Hadi refused some orders that Saleh was seeking to pass. Hadi is expected to rule the country in a little over a month for at least a two year presidential period after Saleh signed a power transfer deal in November granting him immunity from prosecution. |
