| Police officer killed in Mosul attack |

| NINEWA / Aswat al-Iraq: A high-ranking Iraqi Police officer has been killed and one of his bodyguards has been injured in a cache by a group of unknown gunmen south ofMosul, the center of northIraq'sNinewaProvince, in Sunday, a Ninewa security source reported. "An Iraqi Police officer, with colonel rank, has been killed and one of his bodyguards was wounded in an armed attack by unknown gunmen close to Ain al-Jahash village, south of Mosul," the security source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, adding that the victim had been "the Assistant Commander of the 1st Battalion, 1st Brigade of Mosul's Federal Police, who was on his way to join his unit after the end of his leave. |
