Dawkins attacks 'alien rubbish' taught in Muslim faith schools |
2011-10-08 |
Fatwas will be issued Richard Dawkins has attacked Muslim faith schools, saying that they teach students 'alien rubbish'. The noted atheist claimed that pupils were being taught to ignore scientific evidence in favour of following the Koran. He said that he had even met a science teacher who believed that the earth was only 6,000 years old. Mr Dawkins, a former Oxford professor who found fame as an evolutionary biologist before becoming a vocal opponent of religion, is a longstanding critic of all faith schools. But he has said that Islamic schools are worse than others, as their teaching is more likely to be influenced by a religious agenda. Talking to the Times Educational Supplement, he described a trip he made to an 'utterly deplorable' Muslim school in Leicester. According to the Daily Telegraph, he said: 'Every person I met believes if there is any disagreement between the Koran and science, then the Koran wins. 'It's just utterly deplorable. These are now British children who are having their minds stuffed with alien rubbish.' |

#12 er, British children, you say? Nope, when applying this argument to Islam (which comes before country), they are Mooslimb, not British. So, stuff´em, let them live in the stone age. |

#10 Galileo was buried in the lovely church of Santa Croce in Florence, where his monument lies between those of Michaelangelo and Machiavelli. |

#9 Dawkins is a pompous jackass -- the essence of an atheist -- because not only do they believe the earth spins, but that it spins around him/her. At least he has the courage of his convictions to take on Islammers -- and that takes some stones --especially in UK, the land of Fruity Pebbles |

#5 "After a period with the friendly Ascanio Piccolomini (the Archbishop of Siena), Galileo was allowed to return to his villa at Arcetri near Florence in 1634, where he spent the remainder of his life under house arrest." - Wiki |

#4 Keep in mind that the Catholic denial of science was pretty much centuries ago (OK, some of that still around). The Muslim faith(s) have a long way to go. |

#2 Ummm, just to be clear: It was Galileo whose said that more or less under his breath, after publicly recanting his scientific theories to avoid punishment under the Inquisition. The Church later came to grips with science, but that was not one of its better moments. |

#1 Science will win, time after time, got something in the Holy Crayon for THAT? Didn't think so. I know it's a different religion, but the Church's response to Galileo hits first prize. "It still turns". |
