| Mansour to Ban: Israel's Maritime Border Maps Violate Lebanon's Sovereignty |

| [An Nahar] Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour voiced on Monday Leb's rejection of the maritime border maps that Israel presented to the United Nations ...an international organization whose stated aims of facilitating interational security involves making sure that nobody with live ammo is offended unless it's a civilized country... He said in a letter to U.N. chief Ban Ki-Moon: "The maritime maps that Israel presented to the U.N. are a blatant violation of Leb's illusory sovereignty and its economic zone." He explained that the coordinates it presented "cut a total of 860 square kilometers of Leb's economic zone and regional waters." "This therefore jeopardizes international peace and security," Mansour added in the letter. The minister urged Ban to take "all necessary measures to avert any conflict in order to maintain the peace in accordance to U.N. Security Council resolution 1701." Israel submitted its maps to the United Nations in July, shortly after Leb presented its own. |

| #5 - and became "submarines"? Heh. Actually, one thought that occurred to me was they were traveling together under the buddy system in order to render aid in case of difficulties. Being followed by a real sub tender would be sooo embarrassing. |

| #1 Big offshore gas discovery straddles Israel-Lebanon boundary claims. In a somewhat similar situation all KSA could work out with Iraq &/or Kuwait was an agreement to disagree. Lebanon won't. More likely they'll just sabotage anything done by Israel. |
