#2 ...Parliament seems to have 'unlearned' the lesson about not paying the army. That little thingy about telling the boys and Cromwell to go home without pay didn't turn out too well. A democracy is not predicated upon how many votes are in the ballot box, but how many of its citizens are willing to 'give the last full measure of devotion' to sustain it. When no one is left who will effectively do that, the game is up. |
