Huckabee says no to US presidential bid
2011-05-16
[Iran Press TV] Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has announced that he will not make a run for the White House in the 2012 US presidential election.

"My answer is clear and firm. I will not seek the Republican nomination for president this year. I'm going to gladly continue doing what I do," Huckabee told viewers at the end of his Fox News program.

Huckabee -- ranking high in polls among Republicans -- lost the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 to John Maverick McCain.

He then became an author, speaker and contributor to Fox News, where he makes about USD 500,000 a year in a contract that goes through 2012.

Associates also noted that Huckabee was not a big supporter of fundraising, an essential aspect of a campaign.

"You feel that's all you end up doing," he said Friday on Fox.

The announcement has now added more uncertainty to the US presidential vote.

Others considering a run for the GOP nomination include Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Mama Grizzly Palin,

#1  Just as well. We don't need a pro-tax Republican who accused Bush of having an arrogant, bunker mentality.
