| UN free speech rapporteur makes first Algeria trip |

| [Maghrebia] The UN Special Rapporteur on free speech began his first official visit to Algeria, Liberte reported on Monday (April 11th). "This mission will provide me with an opportunity to better understand issues concerning freedom of opinion and expression in Algeria, by allowing me to collect first-hand information from the people concerned," UN Special Rapporteur Frank La Rue said ahead of his Sunday arrival. Through April 17th, the independent expert on the right to freedom of opinion and expression will meet with representatives of Algeria's judiciary, legislature, media and civil society. He will present his findings to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC). |
