Chevron Wins First New U.S. Deep-Water Drilling Permit Since Macondo
2011-03-24
Not quite one year. A lot of drillships hung around hoping to get a chance to work again, though at least seven headed overseas - probably never to return.
Chevron Corp. (CVX) won approval for the first “completely new exploration” in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico after BP Plc (BP/)’s oil spill last year, a regulator said.

Chevron will drill in Keathley Canyon Block 736 in 6,750 feet (2,057 meters) of water, about 216 miles off the Louisiana coast.

While Chevron is the fifth company permitted to resume work in the area following the last yearÂ’s Deepwater Horizon rig explosion, itÂ’s the first to be allowed to tap a reservoir that has never produced.

#3  Mr. Wife says Citgo is owned by Venezuela. Chevron is American, possibly based in California.

#1  Chevron is owned by Hussein's good friend Communist/Socialist Hugo Chavez, who is now being allowed to drill on our turf.
