Sen. Kent Conrad (D) to retire
2011-01-18
Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) announced his retirement today, leaving his seat up for grabs in 2012. Unlike Sen. Kay Bailey HutchisonÂ’s retirement announcement last week, ConradÂ’s announcement sets up a strong possibility of a flip from D to R. Republicans crushed Democrats in the stateÂ’s 2010 elections.

#3  There will probably be more senate retirements announced soon. 2012 is by chance set to be a very hard year for senate Dems, because most of them are running in weak seats, and the few Republicans are from strong seats, unless they are RINOs, like Hutchinson, who the Tea Party had already targeted.

One of the big targets is I believe, one of the Maine RINO women who is running.

#2  his state went red big-time in 2010. He doesn't want to be giving a humiliating concession speech Nov 2012

#1  Of course, the first thing I thought of is that he is planning a challenge to Obama during the 2012 primaries.
