[Tolo News] For the first time ever, Afghan national army has taken responsibility of a large part of the prison Bagram US airbase.Responsibility for protection of more than 75 percent of Afghan detainees in Bagram airbase transitioned to Afghan army, Chief of the Afghan Armed Forces said.
General Sher Ahmad Karimi, Chief of the Afghan armed forces, said Afghan army is prepared to undertake responsibility of all foreign prisons where anti-government faceless myrmidons are kept.
"Today we started taking gradual responsibility of Parwan jail," General Karimi said.
Robert Harward, a top US commander, at Bagram airbase expressed happiness about the gradual hand-over and said his country will continue to support Afghanistan.
Presently, there are around 1,000 faceless myrmidons imprisoned in detention facilities in US Bagram airbase, according to some reports.
Chief Commander of military police, who has taken the responsibility, said responsibility of the entire detention facilities in Bagram base will soon be handed over to Afghan army.
