Andy Xie: Either America Or China Will Crash In 2011
2010-12-28
Andy Xie's latest sees the liquidity war getting worse in 2011.

America will continue to pump the financial system with liquidity via tax cuts and quantitative easing. China will keep the yuan cheap and avoid clamping down on inflation.

The tense equilibrium can't last for long, as either sovereign debt or inflation gets too heavy to bear. Whoever lasts longer, wins.

#4  America's finances would be in great shape if extorted union pension liabilities were reduced. During California's fiscal crisis - or catastrophe - it was learned that 5 ex cops were raking in over $500,000 per year in pensions, while working on the side. LA cops get pensions equal to 90% of wages (over the last 5 years of a 25 year service). The Feds need to support State moves against the extortionist, and go after their own at the same time. Reminder: court officers - including judges, cops and prosecutors - form less than 0.2% of America's population. Knock those parasites down a couple of notches, and the country will get fiscal stability.

#2  On the other hand, if China has a hard landing, the U.S.'s trade deficit can drop dramatically, maybe by 50 percent, due to lower import prices.

Does that mean we can expect to see even more prastic clap from China when we go to WalMart?

#1  Both. Cascading crash. They are interlinked. China can't fend off US financial collapse as US is its biggest market. ETA, 6-9 months.

Interesting times we live in.
