(KUNA) -- A Pakistani court Wednesday cancelled the interim bail of two former police officers and ordered their arrest in a case pleaded by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Former City Police Officer (CPO) Saud Aziz and Superintendent Police (SP) Rawal Town Khurram Shahzad were arrested after an Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) cancelled their interim bail. The FIA had pleaded before the court that Saud Aziz and Khurram Shahzad were facing serious allegations and requested for cancellation of their interim bail. The court granted the FIA plea and cancelled bails of both police officers, who were immediately arrested at the court orders. "Both of the police officers have been arrested," said prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali while talking to media. The two former police officials have been nominated for involvement in the murder of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. They were accused of ordering the assassination scene hosed down so that to destroy vital evidences. Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in December 2007 in a gun and suicide attack after she was leaving an election campaign in Rawalpindi. |
