Barred from US, Galloway vows 'nothing will stop me'
2010-12-22 | |
George Galloway has been denied entry into America. The former Respect MP, and notorious pro-Palestinian activist was due to speak in five US cities but was barred by US authorities. The Muslim Legal Fund of America, which organised the tour, said the ban was because of "visa problems".
He reportedly said that the decision to ban him was not political, but down to a "technical glitch at Heathrow Airport." He added: "My office is now in touch with the embassy in London to fix it." A blogger present at a venue where the controversial politician addressed a crowd via the video link, said that Mr Galloway said: "Nothing will stop me. Not the government of what they call Israel; not the government of Canada or the US." Mr Galloway has previously been deported from Egypt. The tour was intended to follow a similar one in Canada earlier this month, which provoked anger from Jewish organisations. Despite the bar, Mr Galloway said he would still try and make a speech in Michigan in January.

#8 "Nothing will stop me. Not the government of what they call Israel; not the government of Canada or the US." Nothing except maybe the Muslim Legal Fund of America not bankrolling his expenses for his little tour of the colonies... |

#6 Sorry George, you'll just have to fly to Mexico and sneak across the border like everyone else. |

#4 I was going to say that Galloway's infuriating and an ass, but not dangerous. I hadn't heard that he's been fundraising for Hamas, lotp. I... guess that's bannable. It *feels* wrong to deny a visa to a clown like Galloway, but then, just because an Abbie Hoffman seems goofily harmless, it doesn't mean that he isn't capable of high-octane evil. |

#3 I'm actually surprised that some fanatical Muslim hasn't offed that offal, acting out of whatever delusion. |

#2 Mr. Galloway was filmed in the US raising money for Hamas and other banned entities a while back. That hitch wasn't technical. |

#1 Mr Galloway said he would still try and make a speech in Michigan... Mmmm, wonder where? I hope he learned to stay away from New York- Christopher Hitchens would thrash him again. |
