| South Korea suspends North Korea flood aid |

| South Korea is suspending shipments of flood aid to North Korea as of Wednesday following the North's deadly shelling of a border island, Seoul's unification ministry says. The South in September promised a 10 billion won ($A8.55 million) aid package including rice, instant noodles, cement and other emergency supplies, after its neighbour was hit by severe floods in August. The aid was delivered in the name of the Red Thingy and other private organisations but was partly financed by the Seoul government. Ministry front man Chun Hae-Sung said 5000 tonnes of rice, three million packs of instant noodles and 3000 tonnes of cement have already been sent. But 7000 tonnes of cement would be blocked along with medical supplies worth 580 million won, he said. The rice shipment was the first government-financed rice aid to the North since a conservative South Korean government took office in early 2008. Tuesday's attack, which killed two marines and injured 15 more along with three civilians, sparked outrage in the South. |

The Hermit Kingdom would not burn their only ally, the hand that props them up and feeds them. Beijing pre-approved this attack It gives them leverage over the US It means they can demand a softer stance from the US on exchange rates. welcome to economic reality, China style. Yes they own US$2.5 trillion of US Government bonds. No they don't like seeing the US$ devalued - but they won't care so long as the Yuan goes down in lock-step peg so their exports are OK. But what they will NOT tolerate is a rising Yuan to a falling US $ Because THAT would support US exports at the expense of Chinese exports. That would support US jobs at the expense of Chinese jobs. They don't want that. And if you push them, then they will bring out the Hermit Kingdom to do the dirty work... so we have to beg them to intervene. You will NEVER read this kind of analysis in an Australian newspaper. All our media is controlled by either the Government (ABC), Rupert Murdoch, Fairfax or Kerry Stokes. Not many key figures for the grey men to call before stories don't come out or an agenda set. There is no free speech or truly independent media in Australia. | #2 The Norks keep acting like they don't give a darn about this kind of aid. Do they have other plans? Like China? It'd be funny as hell if the SKors just parked the ship off their shore just outside their boundary near that island that they just shelled. |
