| Terrorist act prevented in Makhachkala |

| (Itar-Tass) -- A terrorist act has been prevented in Makhachkala, Dagestan, the National Counter Terrorism Committee told Itar-Tass. "Gorvodokanal water mains workers found a suspicious plastic bag on Soldatskaya Street at 1:10 p.m. Moscow time on Friday. The police blocked the area, and tenants of nearby houses were evacuated," the committee said. Demolition experts of the Federal Security Service ... the successor to the KGB... confirmed that the plastic bag contained a radio-controlled bomb made from a five-liter plastic keg, explosives and shrapnel.
