9 Die in Chihuahua
Nine individuals were murdered in ongoing violence in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.
- A man was shot to death in Juarez Thursday, according to Mexican press accounts. Alberto Esquivel, 30, was shot by armed suspects who had dismounted from a sedan near the corner of calles Juan Escutia and 8 de Mayo in the Melchor Ocampo district. Esquivel's father owned the body shop where the victim worked but fled to El Paso, Texas because of death threats from failure to pay protection money.
- Four individuals were shot to death in three separate crimes in Juarez Thursday, according to the Mexican daily La Polaka. Near the corner of calles Magneto and Auxiliar, in the parque Industrial Juarez, a young man was shot several ties with a 9mm weapon. Two men were shot to death as they exited from their Chevrolet Cavalier by armed suspects near the intersection of avenidas Aztecas and Elisa Griensen. Finally on the corner of calles Acacias and Bario in the Altavista district a man was shot to death with a single gunshot wound to the head.
- Three individuals were murdered in Juarez and Chihuahua in three separate crimes in Juarez and in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Thursday, according to the Mexican daily La Polaka. An unidentified woman reports say was a drug dealer was shot to death near the intersection of calles Insurgentes and Nicaragua in the El Barreal district. In the Palmas del Sol district, one boy was shot to death and another was wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting. In Chihuahua, a woman was found shot to death in the southern sector of the city.
- An unidentified man was found shot to death in northern Chihuahua, Chihuahua, say Mexican news reports. The victim was found on the north banks of the Rio Sacramento blindfolded and hands bound by duct tape tortured and shot several times.
