#6  My son lives a block away. Sometimes hundreds, if not thousands, of folks would have been within range of this attack. Given the concert, probably many hundreds milling about. Also, a much denser pedestrian traffic area than the Time Square terrorist went after.

Finally, who was paying this guy - all the local news here, including the FBI spokesman, claims he was a lone nut in it for "monetary" reasons, and this news release notes he'll retain his own attorney. Follow the money!

#5  Update: he's been charged in federal court.

Hassoun, who is identified in an FBI statement as a Lebanese citizen living legally in Chicago, is charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and with trying to destroy real property using an explosive. The first charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison, while the second has a top term of as long as five years.

#4  5 years to life? Why not just deport the asshole and save the taxpayers a buck or two.

#3  I thought of Sluggers as more of a "bar" but be that as it may, even as a White Sox fan, I enjoyed some of those bars more than the Cubs games our group had been attending.

#2  No doubt another opportunity to replace Wriggly with a Mosque will come again thanks to the Dhimirats.
