A Mexican Army operation in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Saturday resulted in a shootout with armed suspects leaving one unidentified dead, eight arrested and several munitions seized.
A detachment of the Mexican Army intercepted a convoy of six vehicles carrying several armed suspects near the intersection of Avenidas Industrias and Zaragoza, initiating a firefight with the armed elements at around 1630 hrs.
One suspect was reported killed in the encounter and another was wounded. The firefight forced gang members to disperse among building in an effort to avoid army gunfire and capture.
The location of the interception was apparently near a gang hideout where soldiers also found and arrested two other suspects. A large amount of contraband was found at the safe house.
Seized in the raid was one Barrett .50 caliber rifle, five AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles, three hand grenades and five 40mm grenades.
Other contraband seized include four vehicles, ammunition, weapons magazines and various tactical gear.
