Kirkuk police arrest suspected armed group leader |

KIRKUK / Aswat al-Iraq: A combined security force captured three wanted men in Kirkuk on Saturday, one of them believed the leader of Ansar al-Sunna group, according to the director of the Kirkuk Districts' Police Department. "A combined force from the KDPD and the Anti-Crime & Internal Affairs Department arrested two wanted persons in accordance with Article 4 of the law on terrorism during search raids in Sahat al-Aghnam area, al-Orouba neighborhood, southern Kirkuk, with fake documents seized in their possession," KDPD chief, Brig. Sarhad Qader, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Qader said one of the detainees is possible Faris Awwad, the leader of the Ansar al-Sunna (Supporters of the Sunna) group in Kirkuk province, adding the arrested persons were referred to the anti-crime department for investigations. |
