Rebels Gang Rape 179 Women in Eastern Congo |
2010-08-24 |
An aid worker says rebels in eastern Congo gang-raped nearly 200 women over four days within miles of a UN peacekeepers' base. Will F Cragin of the International Medical Corps says aid workers knew rebels had occupied Luvungi town the day after the attack began on July 30. More than three weeks later the UN mission says it still is investigating. Cragin told The Associated Press today by telephone that his organisation was only able to go into the town that is 10 miles (16 kilometres) from a UN military camp after rebels withdrew voluntarily on Aug 4. He said international and local health workers have treated 179 women but that the number raped could be much higher. Cragin said his aid group has been going back to the town and identifying more cases. |

#9 #6 HI!. The inhuman quality spoken of is an old technique used to mold a group into a force that is uniform and feared. The Fuzzy Wazzie, Japanese, and many others using drugs, pain and I'm sure other methods to numb the mind. Many others are more knowledgeable of these techniques than myself could add much more. No hesitation, no fear, just direct uniform action and I stress uniform. They are young full of hormonies. No ripe age for these guys except for the one directing this - somebody likes power. |

#8 An aid worker says rebels in eastern Congo gang-raped nearly 200 women over four days within miles of a UN peacekeepers' base. Odds on the "peacekeepers" being participants? |

#7 I've read that this is all too common. Rape and sexual mutilation has been a staple of the 'rebels' for decades in Africa. Often the woman die from septic. I'm sure organizations like NOW will jump right on tis. |

#6 These "rebels" are no longer human beings, They are rabid animals and must be exterminated. Use of nerve gas and napalm should be acceptable in these circumstances. |

#5 This article is missing some additional victims of the gang rape. About half of all reports on this incident include mention of the rape of four baby boys in addition to the women. Four young boys also were raped, said Dr. Kasimbo Charles Kacha, the district medical chief. Masudi said they were babies aged one month, six months, a year and 18 months. link: http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2010/aug/24/gang-rapes-reported-in-congo/ |
