2010-08-24
[Iran Press] Two people have been killed and more than a score more wounded in a series of bombings and militant attacks in the Iraqi capital and the northern city of Hilla.

Two people were wounded on Sunday when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in Zayouna in eastern Baghdad, Aswat al-Iraq news agency quoted security officials as saying.

In a separate incident, the owner of a cell phone store was shot dead in the same area by an armed robber, who was tracked down by the police and arrested shortly afterwards.

Another IED detonated near a civilian vehicle in al-Harithiya in western Baghdad, leaving three civilians injured.

Eight civilians were also wounded in yet another bomb attack near a café in the capital's southwestern neighborhood of al-Risala.

A blast ripped through a store in the northern district of al-Musayyab in the provincial capital Hilla, Babel province, leaving one civilian dead and 11 others injured.

Meanwhile, security sources said a Katyusha rocket landed in Baghdad's heavily-fortified Green Zone while another landed on the banks of the River Tigris without leaving any casualties or damage to property.
