Turbans launched 6 missiles on the southern Ghazni city Monday dawn, in which an Afghan police was maimed, local officials say The missiles targeted the governor's office, the city's municipality building, the Peace Building Commission's office and a park in Ghazni city, the provincial capital of the southern Ghazni province, local officials said. "Six missiles hit different locations in Ghazni city, in which a police officer was killed," Zorawar Zahid, the Police Chief of Ghazni told TOLOnews. No one is jugged in connection to the incident so far, he added. Local officials claim that Taliban faceless myrmidons are increasing efforts to deteriorate security conditions in the province to prevent the holding of the upcoming parliamentary elections. Meanwhile, the head of the Afghan Independent Election Commission (IEC), in his trip to the province on Sunday had voiced concern over a surge in insecurity in the province. Head of the IEC, Fazel Ahmad Manawi, had earlier said that almost 1,000 polling centres will be closed due to the increasing insurgency in the country. Violence has increased in the province in the past one month, and the Afghan and coalition forces have escalated their counter-insurgency operations in the province, in which Taliban have suffered heavy casualties. |
