A Venezuelan soldier opened fire on his fellow soldiers at Fort Tiuna, the main military base in Caracas. An army captain and a lieutenant were killed, and several other troops were wounded. Bolivar Battalion member Jefferson Vasquez killed Capt. Miguel Rosales and Lt. Alfredo Ruiz, and then fled from the fort. He has yet to be captured. The search for Vasquez caused traffic jams on the highway leading from Caracas to the western part of the country, as well as on the highway that leads to Los Teques, the capital of Miranda state.
