| #1 ...Mr. Steinbrenner also owned American Shipbuilding and Drydock of Cleveland, for almost a century the biggest shipbuilder on the Great Lakes - my dad worked for him for almost 20 years. Met him once, very briefly, at a ship christening - he enjoyed being larger than life. For all his success with the Yankees, he was never able to get the unions at AmShip under control and they killed the yards in the early 80s. Mike |
