| I was hoping Gore would do jail time for his climate fraud scams, but this might be just as good. AN investigation into claims of sexual assault by former US vice-president Al Gore is to be re-opened, US police said today. The announcement follows the identification of the massage therapist at the center of the allegations against Mr Gore. Molly Hagerty, 54, told the National Enquirer that Mr Gore was "a pervert and a sexual predator" in an interview that hits stands tomorrow (local time). She reportedly told the supermarket tabloid she had video surveillance and DNA evidence that would support her claims regarding her experience with Mr Gore. Mr Gore was like a “crazed sex poodle,' she said, adding the encounter produced Monica Lewinsky-style stains on her black pants, which she has kept as evidence. The tabloid said Ms Hagerty's name had been withheld initially as the victim "of a possible sex crime", but the massage therapist had chosen to go public to demand a police investigation into her allegations. Shortly after the story broke, the District Attorney's office in Multnomah County, Oregon, and Portland police both released statements saying a woman raised a complaint in 2006 but withdrew it in 2007, before giving her statement in 2009, prompting police to investigate. “If the complainant and the Portland Police Bureau wish to pursue the possibility of a criminal prosecution, additional investigation by the Bureau will be necessary and will be discussed with the Portland Police Bureau,' District Attorney Michael Schrunk said. Ms Hagerty, from Oregon, said the 2006 ordeal took place in Mr Gore's room at the Hotel Lucia in Portland. |
