U.S. army transfers security station to Iraqi forces

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: U.S. forces transferred a joint security station in Baghdad to the Iraqi forces in accordance with the security agreement signed between the two countries, according to a U.S. army statement on Wednesday.

“Soldiers of 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, transferred Joint Security Station Carver to members of the 45th Brigade, 11th Iraqi Army Division assigned to the 9th Iraqi Mechanized Army Division June 11,' said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“JSS Carver is the eighth JSS to be transferred to the ISF in 2nd BCT's operational environment. The Soldiers of 4-31 have worked with 45/11 IA over the past eight months, conducting partnered training, patrols and humanitarian assistance missions in the Mada'in district,' it added.

In accordance with the Security Agreement the bases or facilities will be returned to the control of the appropriate Government of Iraq entity or demilitarized and closed.
