A top Former Afghan Official's Bank Account Blocked

[Quqnoos] The Afghan Attorney General Office blocked the bank account of a former minister for hajj and religious affairs in all Afghan Banks

Mohammad Siddiq Chakari, a former minister for hajj and religious affairs, has 700 thousand dollars in one of the Afghan banks, and Financial Transaction and Reports Analysis Center of Afghanistan said that the assets of 18 other Afghan officials accused of corruption were banned in Afghan banks.

While confirming the blockage of some of the key Afghan official's bank accounts, a top official in the Afghan Attorney General Office said Afghanistan's Bank intelligence and some other intelligence organizations helped bar these accounts.

The Mohammad Sidiq Chakari's bank accounts are also under inquiry in Bahrain and Britain.

"We have ordered the detention of Sidiq Chakari. We have been following him many times. We are waiting, for he is a British citizen, when the Britain submits him to the Afghan officials," said Deputy Attorney General, Fazel Ahmad Faqir Yar.

The remarks come as a senior official in the Financial Transaction and Reports Analysis Center of Afghanistan informed that the bank accounts of other top Afghan government officials found suspicious by the Afghan Attorney General were blocked.

"The cases of three former Afghan ministers were completed, and we sent them to the High court. The corruption court will decide when to summon them," said Faqir Yar.
