2010-04-05 |
Six people, including four attackers, were killed when heavily armed militants in two vehicles tried to storm the US consulate in Peshawar on Monday, a Pakistani minister said. "They came in two vehicles. The militants were well-equipped. It was a well-organised attack," Bashir Ahmed Bilour, senior minister in the North West Frontier Province government headquartered in the city, told reporters. "The situation is now under control," he said, adding that six people were killed in the attempted attack and subsequent gun battle with Pakistani security services, including four militants and a policeman. "They (security forces) have killed four militants. Four dead bodies are lying on the spot. The whole area is encircled by the army. The militants were trying to enter the American consulate, but they did not succeed," he said. |
